Sober Monday

A nine year old girl died yesterday in Arizona from gunshot wounds inflicted by a deranged gunman. Hmmm…my last blog I railed at the CBS Sunday Morning news program “America in Decline.”

We stand together in a free society, for better or worse

This morning, the girl’s father shared a powerful statement about his daughter’s legacy on The Today Show. I’m paraphrasing, but I think I got it right: “My daughter was born on 9/11, and then died because of a crazy gunman. These things happen in a free society. But the way she lived her nine years, I’ll take the free society over any other option.”

The constant media coverage of the Arizona shooting gave me a pit in my stomach. Congresswoman critically wounded, little girl dead…and many others. I have a daughter. I have a wife. Everyone who was shot was someone’s brother, sister, son or daughter. What was their crime? They were participating in the democratic process — taking the initiative to meet their congresswoman to express themselves. Free country.

Lets pause for a moment of reflection: How do events like this effect your Faith, Family, Finances, Fitness, Friends, Fun and Future? Whatever your thoughts, I’d like to hear them.

What ever you do today, go forth and seize the day: Carpe Diem, my friends.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
