This the easiest blog of the year to write because today is a big deal. Melinda and I are celebrating 30 years of marriage today. And that really brings me joy!
On October 18, 1986, I didn’t know how to think 30 years into the future. I was 23 years old, hoping to buy a house someday and start a family. I didn’t know it then, but we were building a Seven Fs foundation: a life of faith, family, finances, fitness, friends, fun and future together.
A good life partnership

We are a simple pair: we like to spend time together. We like to host parties. We like sports and music. We like to travel and we like to laugh.
Today, we run a business together. We definitely didn’t see that coming 30 years ago! The risk/reward of owning a business is definitely in my bloodline and not in hers. So, we take it one day at a time. I think ahead…she reminds me what we need to do today. We are living the dream: traveling, hosting, helping people grow, employing people we adore, and building something that brings us joy.
Thinking ahead: aspirations for the next 30 years]

Last Thursday evening Melinda and I hugged two of our mentors – Clyde and Lois Allen – who are poised on the edge of celebrating 60 years of marriage! They were precisely the age Melinda and I are today, when they attended our wedding 30 years ago. The main difference now – I have the ability to think 30 years into the future…and I expect Melinda will still be reminding me of what we need to do that day: October 18, 2046.
That brings me joy!
Good leaders thrive because of family. And they celebrate the major milestones with joy!
Please share with me: What brings you joy today?
