Shawn Moren is a Positive Role Model for Healthy Accountability

The fall series of the Good Leadership Breakfast is in mid-swing, with the most recent episode featuring Shawn Moren, Executive Partner at Gartner’s CHRO Practice. If you were in the room last Friday, you know it was buzzing with energy, and the crispness of fall is adding an extra bite to the air.

A special thank-you goes to UKG for serving as the meeting sponsor and to Old National Bank for being the 2025 Good Leadership Breakfast Series sponsor.

Shawn Moren’s Definition of Healthy Accountability

“Healthy accountability is truly a team sport,” Shawn said, when I asked her to reflect on how accountability shows up in her work.

That simple insight says a lot about how she leads. Shawn Moren has built her career around the idea that accountability isn’t something to dread; it’s something to embrace. From the very beginning, she chased down opportunities to learn every corner of HR. She described herself as an “accountability junkie,” determined to make an impact wherever she landed.

“If I wanted to be an HR executive, I knew my experience couldn’t be narrow,” she explained. That mindset reflects one of the most powerful elements on the Pathway to Healthy Accountability: seeking accountability, not avoiding it.

Announcing the HR THRIVE Awards

One of the most exciting moments of the morning was the announcement of something brand new: the HR THRIVE Awards.

Created in partnership with presenting sponsor Gallagher and media partner Twin Cities Business, these awards are all about celebrating bold, innovative HR professionals who are shaping the future of work, with goodness at the center.

In true Good Leadership fashion, the HR THRIVE Awards are a movement. A chance to honor the kind of leaders who go beyond policy and process, and instead, focus on people and purpose. Leaders like Shawn Moren.

I hope you’ll help shine a light on the HR pros who are making a real difference. The first-ever HR THRIVE Awards ceremony will be held on May 6, 2026.

Nominations are open now. If you know an HR leader who’s a real trailblazer, nominate them today. Click here to nominate.
