Rory Mcllroy won the British Open Championship two days ago. The American League won the All-Star Game last week and Germany won the World Cup two weeks ago. The one thing all of these world-class athletes have in common is good coaching. Does it make you wonder..who’s coaching me?
Here’s our mission: helping good leaders like you pave the path to greatness! On June 27, twenty-one All-Stars graduated from the Good Leadership Certification program. “I had no idea how much I was just going through the motions of my work,” one graduate exclaimed. “Now I’m so much more positive in my approach and energized to pursue my goals. Answering the question: Why follow you? sparked an exciting new vision for myself!” You can watch the full Certification Graduation ceremony here.

Like world-class athletes, there are two specific things good leaders need to keep pace with the competition: 1) they need to stay positive in all situations: planned or unplanned…personal or professional. 2) they need to understand how to get powerful people working together as a team. This is the focus of Good Leadership Certification.
Yesterday, world-famous blogger Seth Godin wrote about the power of “peer groups,” On the same day, his contemporary Simon Sinek added these remarks: “The ability for a group of people to do remarkable things hinges on how well those people can pull together as a team.” It seems as if the stars are aligned around programs like Good Leadership Certification….are you ready?
Intense and inexpensive
Without the deep pockets of professional athletes or corporate executives, peer-coaching programs are the best return on investment. The Good Leadership Certification program leverages the oversight of three Executive Coaches from our team to pair leaders up with a Coaching Buddy. Working together in small groups, coaches and leaders wrestle through rigorous tools and processes used in the most intense Senior Executive and CEO Coaching programs. “Seeing the world through the eyes of my coaching buddy really helped me understand my unique abilities…and it gave me a kick-in-the-pants I really needed to grow!” a corporate marketing manager explained.
Resilience first
The centerpiece of the experience is the concept of Blending the Seven Fs: faith, family, finances, fitness, friends, fun and future – as articulated in our signature book: What Really Works. The program delivers specific insight about how to stay physically, emotionally and spiritually resilient on the job and at home – the main ingredients of all good leaders. If you haven’t read the What Really Works book yet: it’s my recommended reading for this week. Now in its third printing as a paper back, the book features the Seven Fs Wheel and 24 Success Habits for Blending the Seven Fs.
Makes me wonder: who’s coaching you?
Carpe diem: join us!
The next Good Leadership Certification program begins on August 15, 2014 with the kick off of the Good Leadership Breakfast. The featured speaker for the Breakfast is my co-author of the What Really Works book, Tim Schmidt. Good Leadership Certification follows. We’d love to hear from you – there’s a coaching buddy ready and waiting to help you get to the next level of your leadership. As of this writing, there are 8 scholarships available.
Good leaders make a habit of seeking out the best coaches to help them stay on the top of their game. And they work together with other good leaders to give themselves the best chance of winning every day.
Next week my recommended reading is an ageless classic: The Art of Possibility. So, the obvious question today is: who is coaching you?
