Psychologists label the human quest for fun as “hedonism.”  Some of us score higher on the hedonism scale than others…and yet, don’t we all crave fun @ work?

Especially today: most of us are living the sobering reality that we will be working longer, harder and later in life — trying to get ahead against societal and economic headwinds.  That’s why we need to take notice of good leaders like Dan Mallin.  Dan is famous in Twin Cities business circles for saying:  “Business is ‘fun’ for me — I get to do this for a living!” He’s an internet entrepreneur and civic innovator who is an outstanding role model for how to have fun in our work.

And its still true today.

Since then he and his business partner Scott Litman have built, bought and sold dozens of companies in the Internet space.  And, in their spare time, they started The Minnesota Cup — one of the premier business plan contests in the United States.  Today, its a statewide competition that seeks out aspiring entrepreneurs and their breakthrough ideas.
