Dan Mallin -- real world role model for how to have Fun @ Work!

Psychologists label the human quest for fun as “hedonism.”  Some of us score higher on the hedonism scale than others…and yet, don’t we all crave fun @ work?

Especially today: most of us are living the sobering reality that we will be working longer, harder and later in life — trying to get ahead against societal and economic headwinds.  That’s why we need to take notice of good leaders like Dan Mallin.  Dan is famous in Twin Cities business circles for saying:  “Business is ‘fun’ for me — I get to do this for a living!” He’s an internet entrepreneur and civic innovator who is an outstanding role model for how to have fun in our work.

Today, Dan Mallin is Managing Partner of Magnet 360, a one-of-a-kind advertising network of best-in-class agencies.  [/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][www.magnet360.com]  They pull together more than 600 professionals in 30 agencies to provide cutting edge advertising solutions.  He and I met more than 20 years ago as he was explaining his business model for Oatmeal Media as “food for the hungry mind.”  That meeting was my first experience with “the Internet” as a business model.  His excitement for the possibilities back then was exhilarating. And its still true today.

Since then he and his business partner Scott Litman have built, bought and sold dozens of companies in the Internet space.  And, in their spare time, they started The Minnesota Cup — one of the premier business plan contests in the United States.  Today, its a statewide competition that seeks out aspiring entrepreneurs and their breakthrough ideas. [www.breakthroughideas.org]  Dan and Scott have created more jobs in Minnesota small businesses than they can count — now that’s fun @ work!

What’s his secret?  You can find out this Friday, October 14 — Dan Mallin is our speaker at the Good Leadership Breakfast.  He’s a terrific husband and father, a successful business leader and civic treasure to the Twin Cities community.  Join us to hear Dan’s unique insights on blending work and home life.  Click here to learn more: www.goodleadershipbreakfast.com.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
